Meaty sponsorship extended

15 Mar, 2010 08:11 AM
THE Sandown Greyhound Racing Club last week announced the extension of its sponsorship with Macro Meats for 2010.

The deal secures Macro Meats the naming rights to the group 3 Lizrene Classic and group 3 Shootout, as well as naming rights to the Sandown Autumn Stayers Series, Australia's richest series for staying greyhounds culminating in the $143,000 group 1 Sandown Cup.

Macro Meats will also sponsor the (Sandown) Cup Night Stayers and (Melbourne) Cup Night Sprint, the best nomination races that run as support races to the respective night's features.

"Ray Borda [managing director and founder of Macro Meats] continues to show his commitment to the growth of greyhound racing throughout Australia, and we are delighted to have Macro Meats on board for our feature events," said Sandown chairman Geoff Dawson.

In recent years, Macro Meats' involvement in greyhound racing has grown to include the naming rights to some of the biggest races on the Australian greyhound racing calendar, including group one events such as the Temlee, Super Stayers and Australia's richest greyhound race, the Macro Meats Golden Easter Egg.

The Macro Meats Autumn Stayers Series kicks off with the final of the $14,500 City of Greater Dandenong final on Thursday, April 8, and culminates with Australia's richest race for stayers, the $143,000 group 1 Radio Sport 927 Sandown Cup on May 6.
