NOBLE Park Secondary College students will benefit from an educational program aimed at improving literacy and mathematics skills through a $6000 grant from the Rotary Club of Noble Park.
Orwin de Kretser, a former student and now teacher at the college, applied for the grant, which was made possible through the World Rotary Foundation.
With the funds, the school will buy 700 licences from 3P Learning Australia to allow students to compete nationally in two programs of Mathletics and Spellodrome.
Principal Pam Dyson said the school was grateful for the club's input.
"We're really happy to be able to be involved with Rotary and very grateful for their grant.
"It is quite an expensive program and we hadn't been able to fit it into our budget. That grant allowed us to be involved. We started with the program at the beginning of the year and will be giving staff professional development on how to follow it up.
"The program allows the students to actively engage in a very interactive tool, which is fun and exciting and allows them to compete with other students around the world."
The funds were presented to the college by club president Rex Carter at its assembly last Wednesday.
