Never alone in Dandenong

25/08/2008 11:50:00 AM
MEMBERS of the band Sneaky Sound System saw a UFO but nobody believed them and X-Files agents Mulder and Scully said "the truth is out there".

Opinions are divided over Dandenong's latest UFO sighting. Last Tuesday, 'Delia' told 3AW's breakfast program she went "out for a smoke" at about 9.20pm the Sunday before.

"I saw six UFOs lined up vertically like a tree. They were very bright, like orange, and on the bottom they were the shape of a ball. The bottom one was very close, but they disappeared in a flash. It was freaky."

'Delia', who claimed to also have seen UFOs earlier this year, said people were stopping their cars in the street.

No reports of the event had been received by Greater Dandenong Council or police.

The Journal spoke to five Dandenong Plaza shoppers and none were convinced UFOs existed.

However, Australian UFO Research Network members Diane Frola and George Simpson confirmed Dandenong was a hotbed for UFO reports.

"The Dandenong area has always had something happening," Mr Simpson said.

Ms Frola said Dandenong had been "pretty quiet" for the past six months.

"You get a lot of these orange balls of light that fly around like a triangle formation. This one is the first sighting in over six months."

The network provided a photograph of UFOs, taken in Pakenham on April 5 this year, believed to be similar to the ones seen in Dandenong last Sunday week.

One of the area's best known reported UFO sightings, seen by an estimated 200 people, was on April 6, 1966.

Staff and students at Westall High School (now Westall Secondary College), in Rosebank Avenue, Clayton South, claimed to have seen a 'flying saucer' descend into a paddock near the school.

It was about 9:35pm on sunday evening on the 10th August. I was with my friend in Doveton and we had just left her brother's home as we drove around the corner, there in oak avenue, doveton looking north were these bright orange lights. About 5 or 6 bright lights in a "T" formation with 2 lights as the top part of the "T" and 3 or 4 lights trailing in a straight line behind the other 2 light. Both my friend and i stopped in the middle of the road with our mouths wide open watching these lights. We went back to her brother's home and called them outside. They too were in awe of what was in the sky and we had not seen anything like it ever. i am certain that these lights are from another place other than earth. Some people are skeptical and would have been too if someone had told me about this and i had not seen it for myself. Still to this day, no one can explain what these bright orange lights were. Very creepy but exciting at the same time. We are NOT alone!!
