FRIENDS of the Frankston teen killed in a horrific smash in Dandenong South honoured their mate by turning out in force at the crash site, before moving on to his funeral service, on Friday.
'RIP Brenton Phillips' stickers adorned their vehicles in respect for the 19 year old, who died when the car he was driving mounted the median strip at the intersection of Abbotts and Dandenong-Frankston roads last Thursday week, crashing into a tree and splitting in two.
Daniel Dober, 22, said he was stunned by the loss of his mate and his death was a lesson for anyone getting behind the wheel.
"I was one of the first to be called [after the crash] and me and all the boys organised to get straight down there to support our other mates.
"He was a great guy who always put his mates first.
"He was a funny bloke, who was always there when you needed somebody. It makes you think twice, what happened to him."
Mr Dober and a group of his friends organised the stickers - which are seen on vehicles throughout Frankston and Carrum Downs - and the convoy to the funeral.
Ironically, cars were Phillips' great love. "He loved his cars; they were a part of his life," Mr Dober said.
Phillips' funeral was held at Bunurong Memorial Park.
