Having a little faith

02 Nov, 2009 09:44 AM
GREATER Dandenong's flourishing Interfaith Network has celebrated its 20th birthday by presenting mayor Pinar Yesil with a ceremonial common statement.

The network, which brings together leaders from different faiths across the city, held its annual gathering and birthday celebration at the Drum Theatre.

IFN president Helen Heath said the statement was a commitment that was first made in August 1989.

"[It is] a commitment to both work for and promote peace and harmony within the city, a commitment that has continued every year for 20 years up to the present day."

Ms Heath said it had been a "significant and busy year" for the network.

"The Network's website www.interfaithnetwork.org.au was launched in May, followed by a national grassroots conference for over 200 people in August."

The group also released a commemorative 2010 calendar to celebrate its 20th year.
