DANDENONG MP John Pandazopoulos has welcomed funding for redevelopment at Keysborough-Springvale Secondary College, saying he is confident there's more to come.
Mr Pandazopoulos said $10 million had been allocated for the first works on each of the former Heatherton and Chandler Secondary College sites. The works will see four schools - Chandler, Coomoora, Heatherhill and Springvale - become two.
Mr Panadazopoulos said that overall only about 20 per cent of the education budget had been announced.
"I expect more funding for schools in Greater Dandenong from the unallocated 80 per cent."
He said he was confident the Government would look at funding stage three of the Dandenong High School redevelopment later this year, although nothing had been announced.
"I'm confident it will be funded. The Government is 100 per cent committed to it."
Mr Pandazopoulos was pleased to see funding for his top priority, the mental health wing at Dandenong Hospital.
The Government has allocated $4 million in this year's budget, part of $66 million to be funded over six years.
"What this means now is that it's the last stage of the total redevelopment of Dandenong Hospital."
South Eastern Metropolitan Region MP Gordon Rich-Phillips said the $4 million was a "token" allocation.
He slammed the Government for making commitments to projects that would not be delivered until well into the future.
"The Dingley arterial is in the same boat. They've committed $74 million to it, but only $9.5 million next year - again, it's a while away."
Mr Rich-Phillips said the Government could complete some projects within the next two years.
"The mental health project could be done very quickly, but the Government wants to get the bang for their buck, so they announce it now, but aren't going to to deliver it for at least four years."
Mr Pandazopoulos hit back, saying planning and design work had to be undertaken first.
He said other district funding included $400,000 for a tanker for Dandenong fire brigade and $250,000 for maintenance works at the Dandenong Police Complex.
